S.E.A. Expedition

This summer I was extremely fortunate to participate in a SEA Expedition (Sea Education Association (SEA) is an internationally recognized leader in undergraduate ocean education). Fifteen mates, twelve scientitsts, and  I left Woods Hole, Massachusetts aboard the Corwith Cramer, a beautiful 150foot sea research vessel. Aboard this tall ship we conducted oceanographic research, learned to sail and the complexities of creating …

The Conservation Land Trust Award

What an honor to attend the award ceremony in Madrid recognizing Mrs and Mr Chris and Doug Tompkins’ work in preserving pristine land in Chile, Argentina, and Spain. For years I have heard how special and beautiful Patagonia is from my mom and her friend who both worked there to help create parks. After watching the documentary  180 Degree South, …

From France to Senegal, a group of young novice and advanced sailors and artists set sail for over 6 months to discover new waters and territories, meet locals and share their art. We met them …

Atyla – “An Educational Project for the Leaders of the Future”

While in Bilbao, Spain I cam across the Atyla ship docked to prepare to cross the Atlantic Ocean. The ship has an amazing history of passion and friendship (Atyla History). At last, Atyla is being used for its original purpose: to train anyone interested in sailing, and living on a ship. You might want to join the crew on their next …

Colorful Fishing Boats, Markets & Nets

Throughout Corsica, Morocco, Portugal and Spain, we saw numerous fishing boats and met friendly fishermen. Most of them commented on the fact that there are less and less fishes… Here are a few photos of small boats and nets I found particularly nice.

Sailing Corsica

We took off sail from Bonifacio, with our skipper Frederic on his 45feet French built sailboat Dufour 455 (http://fpsailing.com) and sail the southern west and east coast of Corsica and northern Sardaigna. We discovered a spectacular coast and beautiful waters. I want to sail and fish more in the Mediterranean!

Art 4 All

I very much like Abby Paffrath’s acrylic and batik art. She gets her inspiration from hiking, skiing and fishing in the mountains, streams and rivers surrounding Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where she leaves -and specifically by “the thrill of a rising trout breaking the river’s surface for a dry fly”…. Check out her site (http://art4allbyabby.com) on a regular basis to purchase …

Mission Blue

This weekend I watched Mission Blue (Mission Blue on Netflix) and was very impressed by Silvya Earle, the founder of the organization (Mission Blue Sylvia Earle Alliance). Since she was very young, Dr. Earl has committed her life to explore, research and protect oceans and marine life. She inspires me a lot. I would like to meet her some day and …
